Bali Indonesia Part 3 - Amed
July 23, 2016

The drive was rejuvenating and made me feel the excitement of travel after the last few weeks of big cities and the same old town/market scene. Eastern Bali accomplished the long sought after rainy rice field view I had been dreaming about every time I thought about traveling to SE Asia. Maybe the main image that I think of when thinking of SE Asia is the flooded terraced rice field and on this 3 hour Uber ride I saw everything I had been dreaming of. Bali finally got its full day of rain (after a very low average rain for the "rainy season") and it happened to be the time we are swerving through the slolem (as our driver called it) switchbacks heading to the coast. The beauty of the fields was only amplified by the downpour of rain with the view being completed by the volcano peeking though the clouds in the background. This was the first drive since Thailand that had me childlike with my face pressed against the window and recording the entire scene in short snapchat videos.

Bali Indonesia Part 2 - Ubud
July 20, 2016

We checked out of the Radisson and got an Uber to take us up north to Ubud...once the driver realized how far the trip was he changed his mind and dropped us off at a McDonald's to order another Uber. After some Ice-cream, we got a driver to take us the rest of the way. It was a pretty interesting drive full of cement monument/structure stores and narrow roads.

Bali Indonesia Part 1 - Southern Bali
March 23, 2016

We've Landed! After an insanely long final day in Singapore (we miss you Singapore) we have finally made it to Bali. Our flight was at 5am so we pulled an all nighter and left for the airport at 2am. The flight was horribly uncomfortable but luckily only lasted 2.5 hours. After flying over some beautiful volcanos and beaches (*HINT* Sit on the right hand side of the plane flying from Singapore to Bali, learned this from people we met at the hostel in Singapore) we touched down.

Kuala Lumpur!
March 9, 2016

We have been planing this trip for so long it seems like it could only be something in the future...but it has now become the past. It was hard saying goodbye to Thailand as well as Austin and Aileen. We are left with some amazing memories, great photos, and the desire to return someday.

We are now off to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We landed at 2am after a long last day of traveling up from Koh Lanta back to the Phuket airport. Two truck rides and two ferry rides later we were at the airport. The flight went smooth and we landed in KL with very little expectations.

Phuket Part 3 - John Gray Sea Kayaking
February 1, 2016

The second day of A&A in Thailand we were off on an incredible adventure with John Gray Sea Kayaking. After a recommendation from one of Debra's friends we all agreed this was something we had to experience. We're were picked up from the hotel and drove about an hour to the NW corner of Phuket. There we boarded a boat that would take us to some unpopulated limestone islands in the Adaman Sea. Everything about this day was perfect including the boat rides between the small islands, the delicious Thai food, and the cave kayaking.

Phuket Part 2 - A&A Adventure Wat Chalong, Big Buddha, and Phuket Weekend Market
January 22, 2016

After christmas dinner we set operation surprise Austin and Aileen in motion. With our personal driver we left for the airport around 11:30 pm in order to be there by 12:50. Of course there was no traffic so we got there early...and their flight was delayed for about 45 minuets. Finally they landed and we surprised them with matching Chang beer tanks and Santa hats. With that we were off on the next leg of the trip.

We started our A&A Thailand adventure the next day with a visit to Wat Chalong. The most popular temple in Phuket where a splinter of the Buddha's bone are held.

Phuket Part 1 - Scuba Diving!
January 19, 2016

After a 6am flight we landed in Phuket early and rode down to our hotel in Kata Beach. It was to early to check in so we killed a few hours walking the beach and enjoying the weather.

We spent the next few days enjoying Kata, watching the new Starwars movie, and trying out different food places.

After extending our trip up north to Pai we were rushed on days in Phuket before Austin and Aileen fly in. To stick to our original itinerary I needed to start my Scuba certification asap. After talking to 4 different shops we found "Dive Phuket". They would be able to get me certified in 3 days, give Debra a refresher course and allow us to dive together on my 3rd day of training.

Pai! - Herbie and the Cave of Wonders
January 16, 2016

We took a minibus up the famous "762 turns" to Pai (pronounced bye). We zig-zagged our way through some pretty incredible mountains on our way to the small town. Our first night we took a nice easy stroll through the town and stopped to eat some falafels with friends we made on the mini-bus ride up the mountain. They were an energetic and fun couple from Canada who took two years off to travel around. We chatted with them for a while and talked about how incredible it would be to have jobs that allowed us to travel forever. After day dreaming eating tasty food we said goodbye and headed our separate ways.

Roy and I wandered through the town and walked the short 5 minutes to our hostel The Rainbow House on the edge of town. We actually booked The Rainbow House because of an older American gentleman that we met in the Taipei airport two and a half weeks earlier.
